After writing about the other blouses my sister made, it’s time to write about what seems to be the last one. I realized just how many blouses she made very soon after we started sewing.
To begin with, this blouse has, once again, the basic shape with the princess seams to the shoulders, both in front and back. Princess seams will never not my favorite; absolutely the best for smooth shaping over curves.
The sleeves are really cute, with gathers both at the top and bottom for a vintage puff style. At the bottom is a little cuff for a clean finish, plus a wide lace trim that gives it another vintage touch.
Let’s not overlook the most important element: the bow collar. It’s actually a very simple element. It starts with a stand collar, with two long pieces of fabric sewn to the collar at the center opening. Then those pieces can be tied together into this cute little bow.
Also, take a look at these buttons! We actually got them in a few colors, but so far this is the only project that has used them.
Here is the blue shirt together with the white gathered skirt I made for her. I love this combination, and for some reason it’s one that I most remember her wearing. Perhaps it’s because this blue shirt and the white skirt were some of the later projects that were made. This shirt is so cute, and my sister wore it well.
