Today’s project is another set I made for my younger sister. This is not the first of its kind. I originally made a black skirt and jacket for myself very early on. Later I made the same style of skirt in blue, then green. The green one I showcased in a tutorial, as a matter of fact. Lastly, I made this one in white.
The skirt is the same soft knit fabric, and made in the same exact style as in the tutorial. I cut it using the entire fabric width, then gathered one edge to sew to the waistband. The waistband is slightly less than the waist measurement, and it has elastic inside it for an extra strong hold.
To make the jacket, I first made a pattern by tracing a vintage jacket on brown paper. It has a yoke piece in front and back. The body of the jacket has some slight gathers for the extra volume without too much shaping needed.
The jacket has a a collar with rounded edges in the front and straight across the back.

As I did with the black jacket I first made, I topstitched with gold thread for an extra touch of elegance. The buttons I chose for this are these beautiful silver-rimmed gems. I got those buttons in a bunch of colors, and I used the pink ones here.
So there’s the white knit skirt and jacket I made for my sister. I remember her wearing it with this blue blouse, as I’ve shown here. Now I wear it instead.
