This is another skirt I made for my older sister, probably back in 2020 as a Christmas present. It is a free sewing pattern from Lekala, and it was actually one of the first patterns I downloaded, but I never got around to making it. Finally, when I needed to make something as another present, I decided to make this.
The pattern is very simple. It has 8 panels that are wider at the bottom, which create a nice flare. I made the skirt out of navy blue “biostretch,” which is what this common polyester fabric is called here. To add some interest, I sewed shiny bias tape along the seams. A simple waistband finishes the skirt, with a zipper on the left side.
The skirt is very nice, yet simple. The flare gives it a nice shape, and it was easy and relatively quick to sew up. This pattern is definitely a success, and I used it again later to make two skirts for myself.
