Remember my purple velvet circle skirt? I made that in 2020, which is now such a long time ago. I’m guessing it was that same year at Christmastime when my younger sister and I were brainstorming gift ideas. We decided to make an outfit for my youngest sister, and this fun and twirly circle skirt in luxurious green velvet was perfect. I did not make this skirt, rather my sister did. As I wrote previously, I’m now documenting her creations as well as mine.
This skirt was made in exactly the same way as the purple one. She used the ingenious free template from The Littlest Studio to mark the cloth. Since the skirt is a full circle, it has no side seams, making the sewing quick and easy. We consulted together on the project, and we were considering how to finish the hem. We both decided that the drape of the fabric was perfect and we didn’t want it weighed down by unnecessary trims. So she did an invisible hem stitch which gave it a smooth and perfect look.
She finished the skirt with a simple waistband with elastic inside. Just like my purple skirt, I love this skirt. I love the drape and shine of the green velvet and the twirl and fullness of the cut. I also love the care that went into this skirt, as with everything that my sister made. Isn’t it just gorgeous? Together with a simple red sweater I made, this beautiful skirt makes a flattering and charming outfit for my youngest sister.
