Who doesn’t love marshmallows? They’re so soft and squishy and tasty. Ever since making my own marshmallows, I’ve been in love with them, and ever since I starting thinking about designing crochet patterns, I’ve been inspired by them. Here is the simplest pattern ever for a sweet crochet marshmallow. It even comes in two sizes: large and mini.
Crochet Marshmallow Pattern
Materials:
- Sport yarn: 7 yards 10 inches for the large marshmallow, 3 yards 20 inches for the small marshmallow
- Hook E (3.5mm)
- Yarn needle
- Stuffing; you can use fiber fill, yarn scraps, or some other suitable option. I used fibers I shaved off a faux fur trim when I made my Christmas dress
Stitches used:
- Ch – chain
- Sc – single crochet
- Sl st – slip stitch
Gauge: 6 sc across 6 rows = 1″ x 1″
The final measurements of the marshmallows are according to this gauge. If your stitches are looser, your marshmallow will end up larger, like the pink one in the picture.
Large Marshmallow
This measures about 1 1/8″ by 1 1/8″.
Round 1: Start by making a magic circle. Ch 1, work 6 sc into the circle, join to first sc with sl st. Pull the circle closed tightly. (6 total stitches)
Round 2: Ch 1, work 2 sc in each st, join to first sc with sl st. (12 total stitches)
Round 3: Ch 1, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat * to the end of round. Join to first sc with sl st in back loop only. (18 total stitches)
