Lacy Heart Fingerless Gloves

It seems like hearts are on everybody’s mind right now. On that note, here is a lovely, heart-themed accessory that is super quick to work up. These would be perfect as a gift for a cherished friend or family member, or something nice for yourself.

I used Red Heart With Love in Bubblegum for the pink trim. Since I wasn’t able to get the same in white for the rest of the glove, I used Cisne Elegance, which I believe is a lighter worsted weight.

Notes on Sizing

This is the first glove pattern I’ve designed, and I don’t have experience with different sizes. I made these gloves to fit my hands, with these approximate finished measurements:

  • Measurement around the wrist: 6 1/4″
  • Measurement around the topmost part below the trim: 9″

If your hands are not the same size as mine, you can adjust the size by making changes in the following places:

  • In the first round, work more or fewer chains. Make sure the number of chains is a multiple of 4. If you have the same gauge as I do, each multiple of 4 should be about 1″.
  • For rounds 2 to 6, you can increase or decrease the number of rows you do before the thumb increases if you want that part of the glove to be longer or shorter. Make sure to end with an even row before continuing on to round 7. Each pair of rounds should add about 7/8″.
  • After the increases for the thumb, if you want the top part of the glove to be longer, you can repeat round 11 before adding the trim. Don’t change to pink until the last round you do before round 12.
  • For the thumb separation, do more or fewer chains to fit your hand. Make sure the placement fits your thumb.

Try the gloves on after the first few rounds and as you work to make sure they will fit over your hand.

Well, I hope that’s enough to get you started. On to the pattern!
